Lord Mayors visit and boat naming. PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

img_4625The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Mark Hackett visted the Centre today and with the help of Sian a year 6 pupil from St Cuthberts RC primary school, named our Drascombe Gig sailing boat 'Spirit of Manchester'. Sian was the winner of our boat naming competition and as well as taking part in the naming ceremony she won a days activity at the Centre for herself and  10 classmates which involved sailing, rowing and having ago on our new zip wire.

The Spirit of Manchester is a superb addition to the Centres fleet and a great vessel that enables students to take part in sailing adventures on Windermere regardless of ability. It can be rowed sailed or motored and has the capacity to carry a group of 12. It has been very popular with our SEN users providing a wonderful sensory experience and with the use of a hoist we are able to take wheelchair users onboard.
