MCMA_GirlsCongratulations to Manchester Creative Media and Arts Girls Academy on being the winner of the first Kath Fry Challenge Competition.

The competition is aimed around a number of challenges. The Friday evening involves each team being dropped off miles from base with map, compass and torches, the challenge being to navigate safely through a large woodland back to the Centre. The Saturday is a mountain day each team has to ascend The Old Man of Coniston being judged on their ability to work together under arduous circumstances. Finally the Sunday is a point scoring exercise based from the Centre, teams have to choose from a list of  exercises and puzzles, using their communication and problem solving skills to achieve the given tasks.

Many thanks for all the teachers who organised teams from their schools to take part in this  Competition. A special thank you goes to GB Builiding who kindly helped to sponsor the event reducing the course fees for each team by 50%. Nine schools took part this year. If your school would like to take part in the next competition starting in December send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
